2021 International Workshop on Magnetic Reconnection
July 26-30, 2021
Magnetic reconnection is a physical process that occurs in highly conductive plasma. In the process, the magnetic topology is redistributed and the magnetic energy is converted into kinetic energy, thermal energy, and accelerated particles. Magnetic reconnection is one of the mystery fields. NASA’s Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) mission, a solar-terrestrial exploration mission, will conduct in-depth research on magnetic reconnection in order to greatly enhance people's understanding of this phenomenon.
The "2021 International Workshop on Magnetic Reconnection" is to promote the conversation, cooperation and development of research on magnetic reconnection. We invite presentations that demonstrate new achievements in understanding the magnetic reconnection, including but not limited to collisionless magnetic reconnection, MHD structures in 3D reconnection, energy conversion processes, fast reconnection mediated by plasmoids, rapid reconnection and magnetic field topology.
This workshop will be held during July 26-30, 2021 in Shandong University (Weihai), China. Shandong University (Weihai) has vigorous space science research programs in the Center for Space Weather Sciences covering a variety of space science aspects in solar, magnetospheric and ionospheric physics areas. More information about the Center may be found here.
Prof. Qinghe Zhang and Prof. Chaoling Tang and Associate Prof. Zanyang Xing will be serving as the local organizers, and can be reached at zhangqinghe@sdu.edu.cn , tcl@sdu.edu.cn andxingzanyang@sdu.edu.cn. Please send your suggestions and comments to them.
