摘要:
The dipolarization fronts are investigated by the Cluster. The MDD and STD methods are employed to calculate the propagating velocity of the dipolarization front. It is found that the propagating velocities of dipolarization fronts are often larger than the background plasma velocity. Stiatistical analysis show that the thickness of the dipolarization fronts is about two times of the background proton inertial length, and it is comparable with the background proton gyro-radius. The current density of the dipolarization front is nearly perpendicular to its propagating direction. The field-aligned currents on the dipolarization fronts are often very large. In the dusk side of the magnetotail, the field-aligned current is towards the neutral sheet, while in the dawn side of the magnetotail the field-aligned current is away from the neutral sheet, which consist with the substorm current wedge.
