简 介:In this talk, Prof. Haimin Wang will introduce the science capability of the 1.6m New Solar Telescope (NST) of Big Bear Solar Observatory. It will include the study of magnetic fields and dynamics in the quiet Sun; the fine structure of sunspots; the eruption properties of flares. The Chinese community is actively participating in the NST observations and the research.

简 介:In this talk, Prof. Haimin Wang will briefly review the institutes in US that offer solar/space physics graduate programs and current ground-based and space facilities. Then he will introduce the state of art research facilities of New Jersey Institute of Technology, including 1.6m Solar Telescope, Expanded Solar Radio Array, Polar Program and instruments on Van Allen Radiation Belt Probes.
王海民教授:Prof. Haimin Wang obtained his B.S. from Nanjing University in 1982. He obtained his Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Hal Zirin of Caltech in 1988. He is currently distinguished professor in the Physics Department of New Jersey Institute of Technology; the Chief Scientist of Big Bear Solar Observatory and Director of Space Weather Research Lab. He has over 240 journal publications, trained over 20 Ph.D. students.
