Title: High Spatial and Spectral Resolution Observations of the Sun by using the Fast Imaging Solar Spectrograph

Abstract:The solar atmosphere is full of dynamic phenomena such as small-scale explosions, jets and waves. We have developed echelle spectrograph named Fast Imaging Solar Spectrograph (FISS) and installed at 1.6 meter New Solar Telescope of Big Bear Solar Observatory. The FISS records two wavelength band simultaneously and mainly records the Hα band and the Ca II 8542 Å band. The spatial pixel size is 0 16”, and the spectral samplings are 0.019 Å and 0.026 Å at the Hα line and the Ca II 8542 Å line, respectively. Using this instrument, we can observe the chromospheric structures and dynamic phenomena with high spatial and spectral resolution.
